2022 Winter Wellness Guide
Well, it’s that time of year again. The Winter is upon us.
We do this every year but for some reason, each year can feel just a little bit harder. And colder!
The holiday season basically lasts an entire two months and just about when you’re ready to gag from the smell of pumpkin spice (I love all things Pumpkin, btw), your bank account has a panic attack.
The weather is frigid, you don’t want to go outside and before you know it, you’ve gained 20 pounds from all the treats you’ve snacked on the last two months.
You hit a wall.
A big, fat, hard AF brick wall.
You’re sick of the cold and just want to feel sunlight for once in your life.
To keep you from smacking a bitch every time you hear Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” I’m sharing a few hacks to help you move through the Winter season with your sanity in mind.
Hack #1: PACE YOURSELF
Self explanatory but super important. It can be so easy to get caught up in the chaotic buzz of the holidays, but be careful of the crash. Never mind how fast others are going: go at your own pace so you don’t fall flat on your face.
HACK#2: DON’T GIVE INTO PRESSURE
You know the pressure you get from family or friends to attend every single get together? That passive-aggressive, “we hope to see you” bs? Or worse: that unspoken societal pressure to buy all the things, do all things, especially on social media. Well, my hack for you is to put yourself first for once. Give them all the proverbial middle finger and do your own damn thing.
HACK #3: AUTHENTICITY FIRST
Similar to hack #2 but with an extra kick. Know your worth. Don’t be afraid to communicate your needs. And do the season in a way that feels right for you. There’s no one “right way” to live, no matter the season. Fuck the haters and just be your glorious self.
HACK #4: KNOW YOUR LIMITS
I say this all the time but it’s always worth repeating: KNOW YOUR LIMITS. SET BOUNDARIES. It’s okay to say no! You don’t have to do all the things, all the time. You don’t have to surround yourself with people who make you feel like shit. You CAN choose your own family; your own people. Take an inventory of what sets your soul on fire and use that as your guide.
HACK #5: SPIRITUAL SELF CARE
Remember, you are a whole person comprised of many “selves:” your spiritual self is just as important as every other aspect of your being. Connect to your spiritual soul-center by indulging in meditation, yoga or anything that inspires and grounds you.
