Spring Cleaning for Your Mind, Body + Soul

Green field of grass with sun

Spring is a great time to not only declutter your home, but also to declutter your mind!

The weather gets nicer, the sun shines brightly and with it, Spring can bring a new opportunity for taking care of yourself; mind, body and soul.

Below are my TOP FIVE TIPS for cleaning out those dusty mental cobwebs!

  1. GET RESTFUL SLEEP

Too often we underestimate the importance of sleep. But think about it: when we sleep like shit, we feel like shit. Develop a healthy sleep routine that sets you up for RESTFUL sleep; sleep that replenishes and fortifies. When we get enough restful sleep, we’re better equipped for dealing with whatever life throws at us.

  2. GET MOVING

Our bodies are made to move. Challenge yourself to add in some physical exercise on a regular basis: dance classes, yoga and hiking are a few of my favorites! Pick 1 or 2 physical activities you enjoy and incorporate them into your regular routine.

  3. DEVELOP A MINDFULNESS PRACTICE

Mindfulness has become a popular buzz word but true, mindfulness practices can do wonders for our mental wellness. Start with 5 minutes a day: practice bringing your attention to one thing (outside would be great!) & describe what you see, hear, feel, smell or taste. Really tap into those five senses. Let your thoughts come and go naturally. Mindfulness is all about being in the present moment; without judgment.

  4. DIGITAL DETOX

Social media is great until it’s not. Schedule in time each day to take intentional time away from your devices. Notice a reduction in tension, stress and even headaches & anger. Find this helpful? Do it every day. Technology is here to stay but it’s all about how we use it. Change your relationship with your devices to one that can enhance your life rather than one that makes it worse.

  5. DO MORE OF WHAT YOU LOVE

Life gets hectic, often without us even noticing. Responsibilities of daily life take priority and often our passions, the things that really light us up, get lost. While we can’t take away or ignore our responsibilities, we can plan to make more time for ourselves. What sets your soul on fire? What makes you feel alive? As long as they are healthy things, do more of them. Now.
